What games are run at the events?

• Our holiday events use the D&D 5e 2024 ruleset, but we use various game systems across different events

Who can attend?

• Anyone who loves TTRPG’s!

• We recommend players have a reasonable understanding of the core rules, beginners are welcome

• Age wise you must be 18+ as there is alcohol served on premises

Where and when?

• We regularly run games online, however our large events are twice a year across summer and winter

How do I get there?

• Locations change from event to event. Players are expected to make their own way to the venue. Some allowances are made for local collection

How do I sign up?

• Please head to the Booking page and submit a booking request

Membership or additional fees?

• Tales at the Threshold do not operate any membership fees, and our extra activities are included in the event ticket price

Do I need a character in advance?

• Characters must ideally be created 2 months before the event so we can integrate your backstory. Once you have booked you will receive a Player Pack to assist with this

Can I join mid event?

• Our events are designed to be played from start to finish, however if something happens and you can only arrive to the venue a day late, that is acceptable

Will alcohol be available?

• Yes. Tales at the Threshold are fully licensed and alcohol will be available to purchase at the event

What will be on the menu?

• We will be offering a split menu for meat eaters and vegans.

What about my dietary requirements?

• You will be asked ahead of the event for all dietary requirements and we will endevour to satisfy anything we can

Will there be soft drinks and snacks?

• Yes. We will have soft drinks available and will take preferences for stacks from ticket holders before each event

What other activities can be included?

• Lots! Check each event to see a breakdown of activities

Are the extra activities mandatory?

• No, they are all voluntary. You do not need to attend if you do not want to, however they are included within the price of the ticket

Will there be downtime to unwind?

• Yes! We have found downtime to be extremely important to not overwhelm guests. Whilst we love TTRPGs, we also respect that a holiday means rest

What sort of narrative style should I expect?

• Epic fantasy; Expect challenging encounters, high stakes and plenty of larger than life NPCs along the way, as well as incorporated backstories

Do I need special equipment or costume?

• Please ensure you have a paper copy of your character sheet for all eventualities

• Costumes are encouraged but not mandatory

Are there rules I need beforehand?

• Our holiday events operate with the D&D 5e 2024 PHB, and any setting specific rulse will be given to you upon deposit

How does rule lawyering work?

• We enjoy a well measured challenge to a situation, but as always, the DMs word is final. Disrespect this at your own peril!

Can I bring my own character?

• Yes, if not making a new one for the event, you can bring the concept of an existing one if it fits the events guidelines

Are there restrictions on characters and roleplay?

• All character concepts are welcome however they much comply with the Adventurer’s Charter

How does leveling work?

• For our holiday events you will be lvl 5 throughout. For online and in person games, the lvls range from 3 - 12

How much roleplay is expected?

• As much as you like! We apprecaite not everyone is a voice actor but we encourage many of our players to give it a go

Are there content and trigger warnings?

• Yes. They will be discussed at session zero and reiterated at session start. For any particularly sensitive subjects, you can anonymously submit with QR code.

Are the events easily accessible?

• Whilst we strive to ensure that our players can access all events, many of our venues are listed buildings and therefore it is not always possible to provide all accessibility options. Please enquire per event.
